The board

What ATA set up. The package's own install and updates (made under DOS and harvested), the operator account's password changed on the board itself, the system password set to a private value, hidden passwords on, IEMSI off (its handshake sat in front of the name prompt), every C: path in the message and file area records turned to D:, and ATA's own transfer driver in Telegard's empty protocol table.

The DOS page. "Telegard" is the waiting screen: SPACE logs you on locally as the SysOp; Esc opens the Command Menu with the System Configuration, the user editor, the menu editor and the message and file area editors.

Making it your own. Everything is saved in CONFIG.TG and the DATA records. The caller-facing screens are TEXT\*.MSG, plain text; the prompts are LANGUAGE\ENGLISH.TXT, compiled with MAKELANG .\LANGUAGE\ENGLISH after an edit. COMMAND.REF, MENUS.REF and the other references are in TG\DOCS. The upload directory is FILES\UPLOADS.

Callers. "Name:", then the password; a SysOp-level caller (200 and up) is asked the system password. A member with a phone number on record may be asked its last four digits. A new caller answers Y to "Login as a new user?", picks a language, sets up their terminal (rows and columns are prefilled: Enter takes them), and fills in the form; the summary screen's Z saves it. New members start at level A (25). After a chat Telegard parks the caller on "Press ENTER".

Paging. Telegard's ring is short here (about nine seconds, its delay runs fast on this machine), but Alt and C starts the chat whether the ring is still going or not. Telegard keeps an available flag on the Scroll Lock key; a caller who pages while it is off is offered mail.

Legend of the Red Dragon on Telegard 3.09

The steps every board shares (getting LORD, LORDCFG, the wrapper batch) are in the door guide. This is what is particular to this board.

Drop file: DOOR.SYS, in each line's temporary folder: D:\TG\TEMP1\ for line 1, D:\TG\TEMP2\ for line 2, and so on. LORDCFG: (9) DOORSYS, path d:\tg\temp1\ for node 1, d:\tg\temp2\ for node 2, and so on.

Batch: D:\TG\DOORS\LORD.BAT:

@ECHO OFF
D:
CD \DOORS\LORD
CALL START.BAT %NODE%
CD \TG

The menu command. Telegard's Online Programs Menu (MENUS\ONLINE.MNU, reached with . from the main menu) is the place. On the DOS page boot "Telegard", press Esc for the Command Menu and open its menu editor (Telegard's Menu Manager), then M to modify ONLINE and I to insert a command:

  1. Long Description: (L) Legend of the Red Dragon
  2. Short Description: LORD
  3. Keys: L
  4. Command: DG (Shell w/ DOOR.SYS)
  5. Options: D:\TG\DOORS\LORD.BAT
  6. Access: s10 (members)
  7. Display: ACS dependent

Q saves the command, Q again saves the menu. No ~CN or node number in the options: the batch reads %NODE%.

How callers get there. . at the main menu for Online Programs, then L.
